Laura Smith Takes on New Role

Barclay Friends is thrilled to announce Laura Smith, RN, BSN, NHA has assumed the role of Senior Director of Health Services & Nursing Home Administrator upon the retirement of former administrator Mark Quinlan. In this role Laura will lead the community’s health services and personal care departments to meet the interests of residents.

After an extensive search process, Laura was offered the position due to her “knowledge of long-term care and personal care, her dedication to high-quality resident care and her strategic vision for the future of health services at Barclay Friends,” said Linda Sterthous, Executive Director of Barclay Friends.

As Director of Nursing at Barclay Friends for the past five years, Laura guided the nursing department through challenging situations including the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, Laura was nominated by members of her staff as one of 14 Philadelphia-area nurses recognized by Independence Blue Cross with its “Celebrate Caring” honors and in 2021, while in this role, Laura successfully obtained her Nursing Home Administrator license.
