Barclay Friends employs a compassionate, experienced staff and maintains an environment focused on the innate worth and dignity of each person.  Our leadership staff is dedicated to serving the older adults who call our community home, as well as helping staff members grow and excel in their roles.

Linda Sterthous

Linda Sterthous

Executive Director

Linda began work at Barclay Friends in July 2017 after serving as Chief Executive Officer of Martins Run in Media from 1998 until its affiliation with Wesley Enhanced Living in 2015, when she became Executive Director there. As head of that organization, Linda’s responsibilities included strategic planning, financial management, budgeting, board relations and oversight of the leadership team. Linda graduated from Penn State University with a BA in Health Planning and Administration and has a master’s degree in Public Administration from Temple University.

Taimi Ando

Director of Culinary Services

Taimi joined Barclay Friends as Director of Culinary Services in October 2021. He previously served in culinary services at Kendal at Hanover, and he also served as Interim Assistant Director of Hospitality at Kendal Affiliate Collington from 2016-2021.

Jennie Bury

Chief Financial Officer

Jennie joined Barclay Friends in 2013. Her experience includes over 10 years in public accounting, specializing in audits of skilled nursing facilities, continuing care retirement communities, and not-for-profit organizations. She oversees all the financial concerns at Barclay Friends.

Luke Dorey

Senior Director of Operations

Luke has over 20 years of experience in health care facilities management, including plant operations, grounds, maintenance, environmental services, and project management. Luke oversees the Maintenance and Environmental Services Departments.

Flora Ferguson

Senior Human Resources Director

Flora, a seasoned HR professional with 15 years of experience, adeptly aligns HR strategies with overall business goals. As a strategic advisor to senior management, she leads the development and implementation of long-term HR plans. Managing a team, Flora oversees day-to-day HR operations, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. Her expertise encompasses talent acquisition, employee relations, training, development, and compensation and benefits. Flora holds SHRM-CP certification, an undergrad degree in Health Services Management from Devry University, and a master’s degree in human resources management from Temple University.

Sara Helmers

Director of Recreation

Sara has a BS in Therapeutic Recreation from Temple University. She has experience working in senior living and her past volunteer work speaks to how deeply she cares about all kinds of people. Sara is active in the local theatre community and brings her passion for music and drama to her work at Barclay Friends.

Maria Kiwagama

Director of Nursing

Maria, a seasoned nursing professional, possesses over a decade of expertise in clinical management, quality improvement, and nursing education. As the head of nursing, she directs the operations of Barclay Friends’ 96-bed community, which includes two long-term care units and a sub-acute rehabilitation unit. Her role also involves comprehensive oversight and management of nursing care within the skilled nursing department, ensuring top-tier resident care, adherence to regulatory standards, and efficient coordination of the nursing staff.

Lauren Paules

Director of Social Services

Lauren is a licensed social worker with her bachelor’s and master’s degree in social work. She has been with Barclay Friends since 2018 and has previously served as the Social Services Associate. She ensures the psychosocial needs of all residents are met while providing supportive contact to encourage each resident’s highest level of well-being. Additionally, Lauren facilitates the discharge planning process for residents with plans to return to the community following their stay at Barclay Friends.

Glenn Barnhill

Director of Philanthropy

With more than 27 years of experience in the advancement and fundraising sector, Glenn is a dedicated professional who brings a wealth of expertise to Barclay Friends. In 2023, he enthusiastically joined the team, where he collaborates with the board, staff, and volunteers to help advance the mission and goals of Barclay Friends.

Playing a pivotal role in connecting with individuals, foundations, and businesses, Glenn fosters crucial relationships that contribute to the success of the organization. As the overseer of all philanthropic endeavors at Barclay Friends, he ensures initiatives align seamlessly with the vision. Discover the impact of Glenn’s strategic approach as he works tirelessly to advance Barclay Friends, creating meaningful connections and partnerships that make a lasting difference.

Laura Smith

Senior Director of Health Services

Laura joined Barclay Friends in September 2016. Laura holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and is a Registered Nurse who has served as Nursing Supervisor and Director of Nursing for skilled care, short-stay rehabilitation and secure dementia care neighborhoods, as well as a personal care area. She also brings experience with hospice and palliative care. 

Kelly McCool

Senior Director of Admissions & Marketing

Kelly has a wealth of experience in Marketing and Admissions acquired from working with a national nonprofit organization serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and behavioral health needs. She enjoys spending time with her family and is an avid Philadelphia sports fan. It is our pleasure to welcome her to the team.
