Support Our Horticultural Therapy Program

The horticultural therapy program, which was established in 2000, is made possible with support from members of the wider community like you. Our popular annual Secret Gardens of West Chester Tour and Plant Sale, now in its 15th year also helps to support this program.

Ways You Can Help

Make a financial gift to Barclay Friends to support our unique horticultural therapy program.

Anne's Garden Flowers
  • $25 helps us purchase potting soil.
  • $50 purchases brightly colored annuals to place around our campus.
  • $100 supports supplies for flower arranging classes for a month.
  • $250 purchases a new raised bed for residents to garden while in a wheel chair.
  • $500 supports an herb garden for residents for the entire season.

Donate gardening-related items

  • Potting soil of any kind and any amount.
  • Flats of annual flowers (geraniums, zinnias, etc.).
  • Trays with cells to help us grow plants.
  • Watering cans—residents enjoy helping to water plants.

Mark your calendars:

  • Saturday, September 7, 2019, is the 15th Annual Secret Gardens of West Chester Tour and Plant Sale in the Everhart Park area of West Chester borough. All proceeds support our horticultural therapy program. Please Note: Due to construction at Barclay Friends, Chester County Art Association (CCAA), located at 100 North Bradford Avenue, will host our plant sale and “day of” ticket sales this year!
  • An exhibit of plein air artwork created during the first week of September in the gardens of Barclay Friends will be on display at CCAA Thursday–Sunday, Sept.12-15.
