Barclay Friends' Memory Care Garden Flourishes with Expansion

West Chester, PA – As the memory care expansion at Barclay Friends nears completion, residents and visitors are already enjoying the transformation of the surrounding garden spaces. Designed with purpose and beauty in mind, the updated garden seamlessly blends therapeutic functionality with serene aesthetics.

The new garden features additional walkways paved with PerkEpave, offering accessibility and safety for residents. Carefully selected plants and flowers enhance the sensory experience, creating a calming environment ideal for reflection and socializing. Raised garden beds, added as part of the expansion, enable residents to engage in horticultural therapy—one of Barclay Friends’ hallmark programs.

“This garden embodies our commitment to holistic care,” said Cheryl Bjornson, Barclay Friends Horticulture Therapist. “It’s a place where residents can connect with nature, stimulate their senses, and feel at peace.”

The expanded garden space also complements the newly added amenities within the memory care wing, fostering a comprehensive approach to residents’ well-being. Barclay Friends is proud to provide these improvements as part of its ongoing dedication to enhancing the lives of those we serve.
