Barclay Friends to Host 2019 Plein Air Event

Barclay Friends is partnering with the Chester County Art Association (CCAA)  for a unique plein air artist event. The week after Labor Day, the event will complement our annual Secret Gardens of West Chester Tour held on September 7th. Barclay Friends has 5 delightful private gardens, as well as many landscaped common areas for artists to render.

The Plein Air Event Days are Tuesday, September 3rd, Wednesday, September 4th and/or Thursday, September 5th plus Friday, September 6th if needed due to weather challenges.

A “pop-up” exhibit will be held at CCAA the week of September 9th as part of the September exhibitions opening reception on Thursday, September 12th from 5-7 pm. The exhibition will be moved to Barclay Friends for additional viewing from Tuesday, September 17th through October 7th.

The number of participating artists is limited to 25, and all mediums are encouraged. Artists must have their paper/canvas stamped on Tuesday morning, September 3rd, at Barclay Friends. A CCAA representative will be based in the BF entrance lobby area from 8:30am to 10:30am, and maps of the private gardens and public areas will be provided.

CCAA artist entry fee is $35 Member /$40 Non-Member for one or both days. Work must be delivered to CCAA on Friday, 9/7, or Saturday, 9/8, between 10am and 4pm. Artists are required to provide an inventory (including artist name title, medium + price) of items for display/sale.

CCAA is responsible for all sales and will retain a 35% commission on all sales. Note: Up to 3 works can be submitted for judging, however only 2 pieces are guaranteed to be hung based on space restrictions plus number and size of works submitted. Three monetary awards will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
