Your key to the secret gardens of West Chester
This event provides the opportunity to visit exclusive private home gardens in the Everhart Park area of the borough while highlighting the talent of local musicians and artists performing throughout the day at many of the gardens. Each year, our plant sale grows in popularity, providing an expansive variety of perennial plants for purchase. Secret Gardens is known as a memorable one-of-a-kind garden event that attracts the attention of more than 300 garden enthusiasts yearly in search of vibrant seasonal color, landscaping authenticity and gardening inspiration.
Support a great cause
All proceeds raised supports the horticultural therapy program at Barclay Friends. This program, lead by full-time horticultural therapist Cheryl Bjornson, enriches residents’ lives. Spending time outside surrounded by nature stimulates the senses and can have a significant positive effect on residents. Tending to plants cultivates a sense of self-worth. Also, tasting a cherry tomato grown from one of our gardens or feeding home-grown lettuce to our therapy rabbit can engage the mind and make a resident’s day.

This year only, new plant sale and “day-of” ticket sale location
Community is at the heart of our values at Barclay Friends, and we are excited to partner with Chester County Art Association for this year’s event. Due to construction of our new Preston building, Barclay Friends’ community will be unable to accommodate the plant sale. We saw this as an opportunity to partner up with a wonderful association set in the West Chester area. And so, this year only, Chester County Art Association will be hosting our plant sale and “day of” ticket sales. See the map to the right for reference.
