The
Kendal Idea
Mission and Quaker Roots
"The mission of The
Kendal Corporation, a not-for-profit organization, is to develop,
support, and lead a system of communities and services for older
persons, in accordance with the principles of the Religious Society
of Friends." Mission Statement of The Kendal Corporation, 4/21/01; reaffirmed 2003
Kendal communities seek to enhance the quality of life and independence of
residents by providing high-quality services and health care and enabling
resident-driven lifestyles, so that each resident may realize his or her full
potential. The Kendal communities' outreach programs serve a wider audience through advocacy and
education in many forms. In every area of its work, Kendal is guided by its
published Values and Practices which are, in turn, rooted in basic Quaker
values.
To achieve its mission, each Kendal organization relies not only on the energies
and good will of its staff members, board members, and residents but also on
the exchange of ideas with others in the field of service to older persons.
Kendal takes an active role in public policy issues and participates in many
professional associations.
Volunteers at Barclay Friends

The volunteers at Barclay Friends play an important role in helping our staff enrich the lives of our residents. Our active volunteer program provides opportunities for those in the community who can share their time and talents in the horticultural program, the arts program, the recreational programs, resident visits, and many other areas of the daily life of the residents at Barclay Friends. If you have some time to share, please call the Recreation Department at Barclay Friends at 610-696-5211 to learn more about the opportunities available to you. |
