The Barclay Friends Difference

“Many facilities have a mission statement but many times it is just a statement.  Here at Barclay Friends all of you truly live the statement.  You truly create a caring environment and preserve the dignity of the elderly. I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for the job that you do.  Every time I leave my mother, I know that she is in good hands and that I do not have to worry about her.  You are truly providing me with peace of mind.” ~ Cotter Family Member

  • Cultivate the Arts and Gardens focuses on music, dance, theater, the creative arts and horticultural therapy.  Lovely gardens and a grove are pleasant places where the beauty of nature can be appreciated. Additional recreation programs include physical fitness, trips to nearby communities, games and holiday celebrations.
  • A full continuum of care providing residential and assisted living, rehabilitation, and nursing care is available in one community.  Woolman residential and assisted living residents can usually be accommodated in the Cotter nursing neighborhoods as the need arises.  They do not face the uncertainty or the ordeal of searching for a new care facility, but may remain in the community that is already their home with the added benefit of knowing that Barclay Friends is Medicare and Medicaid certified. There are 49 resident rooms in the Woolman building. The Cotter building has 87 long-term resident rooms and 12 short-stay rehabilitation resident rooms. • Couples with differing care needs may live in the same community, receiving health care services according to individual needs.  Apartments in Woolman can accommodate those needing either residential or assisted living.
  •  An electronic medical records system and electronic medication management are utilized at Barclay Friends. Barclay Friends has implemented Answers on Demand (AOD), an integrated software program for continuing care communities to meet the clinical, financial, and operational needs of residents and staff. AOD provides enhanced security of information and the ability of staff to document resident care in resident rooms thereby saving time, improving accuracy, and decreasing the chance of errors in medication administration.
  •  WiFi (wireless network) is available at Barclay Friends for residents, family members, and visitors.

  • Resident's families are considered an important part of the Barclay Friends’ extended family.  Administrative staff listens openly and work actively to find solutions to concerns.
  • Dining services enhance the lifestyle of each resident.  Three delicious meals and snacks are provided daily.  Breakfast is offered at flexible hours in the Turks Head Cafe. Residents enjoy waited service for the dinner and supper hours with entrée selections from their menu for each meal. Alternate meals are available for any meal and may include special dietary needs. Guests are always welcome.
